Does insurance pay for the program itself?
No. Insurance is billed for eligible medical services — office visits, preventive care, chronic disease management, medication management, and conventional laboratory testing. The program fee is separate and covers the functional medicine services insurance does not reimburse. Insurance-integrated pricing reduces that fee because part of your care is already going through insurance.
Why is there still a program fee?
Because most of what makes a functional medicine program work has no billing code. Interpreting advanced testing, building and refining your protocol, planning nutrition and supplements, coordinating care, and being reachable between visits are all uncovered. The program fee is what makes that time possible.
How do I know if I qualify?
Insurance-integrated pricing is available to established patients whose insurance I accept. I'll confirm your specific plan and what it covers before you enroll — you'll know your actual investment before committing to anything.
Do you take insurance?
I use insurance for eligible conventional medical services when appropriate, including certain medical visits, basic laboratory testing, imaging, medications, and referrals. Functional medicine consultations, structured programs, and most advanced functional testing are self-pay because they include additional time, interpretation, planning, and support that are generally not covered by insurance. Your individual benefits, deductible, and coverage still determine what your plan pays.
How do labs work?
Labs are selected based on your history, symptoms, previous results, and what is most likely to guide your care. Conventional labs may be completed through insurance or transparent self-pay options. Advanced functional testing may be recommended when it is likely to add useful information, and one test is included in Reset and up to two are included in Rebuild when clinically appropriate. I will review the purpose and any expected cost with you before testing is ordered.
What kinds of advanced functional testing might be used?
Depending on your concerns, testing may include a DUTCH hormone assessment, a GI-MAP or GI Effects stool test, or an Organic Acids Test. These tests look at different areas, such as hormone metabolism and cortisol patterns, digestion and the intestinal environment, or selected metabolic and nutrient-related markers. Testing is individualized; enrolling in a program does not mean that every patient receives the same test.

What is the difference between Root Cause Review and Reset or Rebuild?
Root Cause Review is designed to provide clarity and direction. It includes a 60-minute intake, review of your existing records and labs, a 45-minute Clinical Review & Plan visit, and a personalized written roadmap. If specialty testing would help, an optional Advanced Testing Upgrade adds test selection, ordering, interpretation, and an updated plan.
Reset and Rebuild add the structure needed to implement and refine care over time, including follow-up visits, messaging, advanced testing when appropriate, and adjustments based on your response. Root Cause Review helps define the direction; the longer programs provide ongoing implementation and support.
Do I need to join primary care before starting functional medicine?
No. Primary care and functional medicine are separate but complementary ways to work with me. You may begin with the Integrative Primary Care Membership, Root Cause Review, Reset, or Rebuild depending on your needs and readiness. Primary care provides ongoing medical continuity, while functional medicine programs provide deeper investigation and structured implementation.
Can I begin directly with Reset or Rebuild?
Yes. Some patients are ready to begin with a structured program, particularly when their concerns are longstanding or they have already completed substantial evaluation. Others benefit from beginning with Root Cause Review before making a larger commitment. I will recommend the starting point that best fits what we discussed during your Intro Call.
How soon might I notice changes?
Response to treatment varies based on your health concerns, how long they have been present, the complexity of contributing factors, and the plan we develop together. Some patients notice changes in areas such as sleep, digestion, or energy relatively early, while hormonal, metabolic, and other longstanding concerns often require more time. The goal is thoughtful, sustainable progress rather than promising a specific timeline.
What if I have an acute medical concern during a functional medicine program?
Functional medicine programs do not replace urgent or emergency care. You may schedule a separate medical visit with me when appropriate, or seek urgent or emergency evaluation when needed. Any separate visit fees or insurance billing will be explained before the visit.
Do you prescribe medications when appropriate?
Yes. I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner trained in conventional primary care and integrative medicine. When clinically appropriate, prescription medications may be used alongside nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, and other evidence-based strategies. Hormone therapy and GLP-1 medication management are provided through the Integrative Primary Care Membership rather than as part of the functional medicine programs.
What happens after a program ends?
At the end of Reset or Rebuild, we will review your progress, what still needs attention, and the level of support that makes sense going forward. Some patients transition into the Integrative Primary Care Membership for ongoing medical care, prevention, medication management, and continuity. Others may need only periodic follow-up or return to their existing primary care provider.
How do I know which option is right for me?
The recommendation discussed during your Intro Call is the best place to begin. In general, Lab Launch is for understanding conventional labs you already have; Root Cause Review provides a more comprehensive evaluation and roadmap; Reset and Rebuild provide structured implementation and ongoing support; and the Integrative Primary Care Membership provides continuing medical care. Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
Many medical visits, laboratory tests, and treatment-related expenses may be eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement. Eligibility varies by plan and expense, so confirm the details with your plan administrator. Itemized receipts can be provided when applicable.
